Earl ’64

I’m a grad of ’64 and vividly recall the great bed push in the spring of 1961.
Relay teams pushed a bed from north of Orillia to Hamilton-along the way it was high jacked by students from the University of Guelph. Our bed push was covered by Life magazine and a number of us had our pictures in the magazine.

  1. From Paul Leskew,’63. I was the organizer of the bed push. Started at my family cottage on western shores of Lake Couchiching. Great event. CHUM helicopter and Life magazine followed it. Was done to promote big hockey game between Guelph and Mac. We finished at the Dundas Rink just before the puck dropped. Joe Brown the Life photographer sent me all the original photos which I donated to Mac’s Athletic Dept about 10 years ago. Remember drinking the pub dry in Beeton the one night, and the altercation with the Guelph students there!
